Description of Experience
Alvarinho is an expression of the landscape, history and identity of a territory.
Between Monção and Melgaço, the landscape reveals a centuries-old relationship between wine, agriculture and local identity. But Alvarinho does not end at the border.
The same grape variety extends into Galicia, taking on its own ways of being cultivated, understood and woven into local culture on either side.
Through wine, gastronomy and landscape, we seek to understand how this relationship between territory and culture has given rise to one of the Iberian Peninsula’s most distinctive wine identities. An identity shaped also by the border, between continuity and difference.

DAY UNFOLDING
● Introduction to the territory and the culture of Alvarinho
● Visits to two selected producers, with guided tastings
● Interpretive walk through the vineyard landscape and the historic centres of Monção and/or Melgaço
● Lunch featuring regional cuisine
● Discovery of the diversity of styles and interpretations of Alvarinho
