Its origins date back to <strong data-start=\"544\" data-end=\"558\">12th century<\/strong> and are closely linked to the beginnings of the formation of Portuguese territory<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62904\" src=\"https:\/\/wewantgreen.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/IMG_4411.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"869\" height=\"489\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"640\" data-end=\"673\">The Order and the vocation of the place<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"674\" data-end=\"910\">According to historical tradition, these lands were donated by Teresa, mother of Afonso Henriques, to the Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem, also known as the Order of the Hospital or, later, the Order of Malta.<br \/>\nFounded in the 11th century in Jerusalem, in the context of the Crusades, the Order became one of the most prestigious international organisations of the time. Initially religious and military, it gradually took on a humanitarian vocation, dedicated to welcoming and assisting the most vulnerable - a dimension that remains inscribed in the symbolic memory of the place and in the name of the farm itself.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62898\" src=\"https:\/\/wewantgreen.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/IMG_4406.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1050\" height=\"591\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wewantgreen.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/IMG_4406.jpeg 1050w, https:\/\/wewantgreen.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/IMG_4406-980x552.jpeg 980w, https:\/\/wewantgreen.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/IMG_4406-480x270.jpeg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1050px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1311\" data-end=\"1353\">Continuity and contemporary projection<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1636\">Quinta do Hospital currently belongs to Falua, a company founded in 1994 by oenologist Jo\u00e3o Portugal Ramos.
