Origin, territory and permanence
Quinta do Hospital, located in Ceivães, Monção, is a property deeply rooted in history, at the centre of which stands a remarkable manor house. Its origins date back to 12th century and are closely linked to the beginnings of the formation of Portuguese territory

The Order and the vocation of the place
According to historical tradition, these lands were donated by Teresa, mother of Afonso Henriques, to the Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem, also known as the Order of the Hospital or, later, the Order of Malta.
Founded in the 11th century in Jerusalem, in the context of the Crusades, the Order became one of the most prestigious international organisations of the time. Initially religious and military, it gradually took on a humanitarian vocation, dedicated to welcoming and assisting the most vulnerable - a dimension that remains inscribed in the symbolic memory of the place and in the name of the farm itself.

Continuity and contemporary projection
Quinta do Hospital currently belongs to Falua, a company founded in 1994 by oenologist João Portugal Ramos. In 2017, Falua was acquired by Vitas Portugal, a subsidiary of the French group Roullier, ensuring continuity, investment and international projection for the project.

A lived place
Quinta do Hospital is thus a place where history is not just evoked - it is lived, reinterpreted and shared. A place to discover with time, attention and a sense of presence.
