Origin, renewal and vision
Located in Moreira, Monção, Quinta da Torre - formerly known as Paço or Quinta da Bemposta - is an estate deeply rooted in history. Over the centuries it has seen moments of great prestige and phases of decline, until it was reborn in recent times thanks to the vision and drive of one of Portugal's most dynamic winemakers: Anselmo Mendes.
A native of Monção, he knows, breathes and interprets this territory like few others, combining technical knowledge, cultural sensitivity and a deep understanding of the landscape.

Architecture, vineyards and ancient vocation
The property extends over around 50 hectares of vineyards and includes a remarkable four-century manor house, marked by the presence of three towers that give it its identity and grandeur.
As far back as medieval times, wines were shipped from its cellar to England and Northern Europe, testifying to a long-standing export vocation and a reputation that is now being honoured and extended.

The time of the Alvarinho
This is the time of Alvarinho - the emblematic white grape variety that finds exceptional conditions in Monção and Melgaço to express its versatility and complexity. Contributing to this are the mountains that protect it from the most aggressive oceanic influences, the geology and structure of the soils and, above all, the human factor - a cultural layer that moulds practices, choices and identity.
The combination of these elements gives rise to a wine expression of great precision and depth.

Experience, heritage and presence
Quinta da Torre is open for visits and wine tourism, offering an experience that goes beyond wine tasting. You'll discover a house that's over six hundred years old, set in a beautiful setting, punctuated by 16th century granaries and millenary olive trees.
There are also wines, local products and the Alvarinho Experience Centre, housed in the old mythical winery - a place where past and present come together in a particularly happy way.
