This is a border territory shaped by a shared historical and cultural identity. Across the Minho River lies Galicia, with which this region shares a singular grape variety — Alvarinho, Albariño in Spain — rooted on both banks and cultivated for centuries.
Here, Alvarinho is more than wine. It is heritage, culture and an expression of place. Present for generations, it has accompanied local ways of life and found a natural place at the Minho table, where wine enters into dialogue with everyday foods, knowledge and practices.
Through the relationship between landscape, wine and food culture, the journey offers insight into how Alvarinho pairs with local flavours and how communities inhabit, produce and share this cross-border space.
Time is given to visits to two carefully selected wine estates in the Minho Valley, guided tastings paired with regional products, a traditional lunch, and moments of landscape reading in places of strong historical and scenic value, lived at the unhurried rhythm of rural Minho.
