Description of Experience

This full-day tour invites you to discover Monção and Melgaço,the two neighbouring municipalities that form the most distinctive sub-region of Vinho Verdewhere the white grape Alvarinho truly shines. 

Set along the River Minho, this borderland between Portugal and Galicia is rich in history and shared traditions. On the Spanish side, the same grape — known as Albariño — defines the wines of Rías Baixas. Here, wine crosses borders as naturally as culture does.

For us Alvarinho is more than a grape or a wine; it is a cultural marker and a source of identity.  There, in what we call the Alvarinho / Albariño Territory, the lines of a very ancient, turbulent and fascinating time intersect, which continues to pulse in the present: the medieval roads of Santiago, the pre-Roman Celtic / Castreja culture and the foundation of the Portuguese nation.

Our goal is to reveal the uniqueness of the Alvarinho / Albariño Territory —  its wines, landscapes, and deep-rooted history — at the unhurried pace of rural life.

● The  Harmonisation Tour includes a visit to two representative wine estates: one with a classic tasting and the other harmonised with local products. To this is added a regional lunch and discovering sites of great historical importance and landscapes of unquestionable beauty.
