Description of Experience
● This full-day tour offers the chance to discover Monção and Melgaçothe two neighbouring municipalities that make up the most exciting sub-region of the Vinho Verdewhere the white variety Alvarinho is clearly predominant.
● We are in a border area overflowing with history and cultural richness. On the other side of the River Minho is Galicia. And if there's one thing the two sides have in common, it's the presence of this superb grape variety (Albariño on the Spanish side), widely dominant in the 5 sub-zones of the Rías Baixas, one of the 5 Designations of Origin for Galician wines.
● For us Alvarinho is much more than a grape variety, it's much more than wine, it's an element that sedimented culture, a real identity force. It's not clear whether this variety is native to this corner of the Iberian Peninsula or not, but what is clear is that it's been around for a long time, probably since the 12th century. And that it has made this cross-border territory its home, its true terroir. There, in what we call Alvarinho / Albariño Territory, The lines of a very ancient, turbulent and fascinating time intersect, which continues to pulse in the present: the medieval ways of St. James, the pre-Roman Celtic/Castreja culture and the foundation of the Portuguese nation.
● Our aim is to take you to discover the uniqueness of this territory, which also boasts very particular geographical and geological-morphological characteristics. A trip to remember later.
● The Classic Tour includes a visit to two representative wine estates, both with a simple tasting. A regional / traditional lunch and the discovery of sites of great historical importance and landscapes of unquestionable beauty. At the slow, relaxed pace of rural life.
