Walking between memory and nature
What we propose here is an invitation: to slow down and walk, with time and attention, along old paths that preserve deep traces of rural life. This is an immersive itinerary of around three hours, followed at an unhurried pace, discovering ruins, architectural details and fragments of memory that help us understand a story shaped by hard work, adaptation and ingenuity.

Maize and the cycles of life
Maize, once central to local food and economy, runs through this narrative as a guiding thread, recalling ancestral agricultural practices and cycles of subsistence deeply rooted in the land.
Alongside it stands the persistence of the communities that, generation after generation, shaped this exceptional terraced landscape, transforming steep slopes into a productive system of remarkable beauty and balance.

Heritage and the character of the place
The route does not forget the figure of the Viscount of Sistelo, responsible for the construction of the remarkable manor house that still defines the village’s profile, nor other important heritage elements whose careful placement in the landscape adds eccentricity, character and charm to this singular place.

Walking, feeling and inhabiting the cultural landscape
Between loose conversations and shared silences, walking becomes a true sensory balm. The diversity and lushness of nature — the intense green of the terraces, the sound of water, the light that shapes volumes — envelop the visitor and invite contemplation.
This is, in essence, one of the routes that We Want Green dedicates to the Cultural Landscape of Sistelo: an experience that does not merely observe, but proposes to feel, understand and inhabit a territory where culture, nature and time walk together.
